Sydney’s Bio
Mr. Shaw earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Hampton University (Virginia) and holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Finance from Northern Illinois University. He is also a faculty member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
Sydney Shaw has worked in finance and accounting management capacities for several multinational firms crossing various industries, including technology, pharmaceutical, wholesale distribution, retail, insurance, private equity, and transportation. Companies include Motorola, Aventis Pharmaceuticals, Sprint, Hallmark Cards, Relation Insurance Services, and General Electric (GE Transportation).
His financial experience not only spans leadership roles at Fortune 500 companies but includes several years as an entrepreneur. For the past 16 years, he has held the role of President and CEO of S&S Financial Services and its division Bookkeeping Advisors (both accounting and financial services firms).
Mr. Shaw has been an invited guest speaker and presenter on the subjects of business performance management/measurement, activity-based costing/management, balanced scorecards, business process improvements, and shared services at several national and international conferences hosted by the following organizations: The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Consortium of Advanced Manufacturing International (CAM-I), Armstrong Laing Group, International Quality and Productivity Center (IQPC), and the Activity Based Cost Management-Advanced Implementation Group (ABCM-AIG).
Mr. Shaw is also a US Navy veteran, having earned his sea service ribbons, and was a LS3 (Logistics Specialist Petty Officer 3rd Class) for 4 years in the US Navy. He was stationed on the USS Hermitage (LSD-34) amphibious ship, home based at the Joint Expeditionary Base – Little Creek (Virginia Beach, VA). He also served at the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown, VA.
He is married with four (4) children (three daughters and one son) and lives in the Kansas City metro. Even though he grew up in Jamaica and immigrated to the US at age 15, he considers Racine, Wisconsin his hometown in the United States.
